Why Practice This Drill

Shoulder rolls are great for releasing shoulder tension before the start of a match. Doing 5 minutes of “shoulder rolls” before arriving to play, will give you an edge. The more physically and mentally relaxed you are, the better you’ll play.

Pick A Game

Beginner: Practice for 5 minutes.

Club player: Practice for 10 minutes.

Pro: Practice for 10 minutes.

Shoulder Rolls Steps

From sitting or standing position, inhale while rolling shoulders up to your ears, exhale while lowering shoulders. During the exhale, feel that you’re letting go of all tension. Repeat multiple times.

Tip 1: Haaa

To emphasise letting go, say a loud “Haaa” during each exhale (as the shoulders are lowing).

Tip 2: Before, During & After

If you practice or play a snooker match, you’ll likely feel tension in your shoulders, so do Shoulder Rolls before, during and after a practice or a match.

Tip 3: Melting Ice-cube

The more physically and mentally relaxed you are, the better you’ll play. So, after you’ve completed the “shoulder rolls”, close your eyes and visualise any remaining tension melting away like an ice-cube on a hot day.
